Liquid Oxygen Plant
Basic principle

Our liquid oxygen plants use atmospheric air, which subsequently goes inside the molecular sieve purification system where the process air is cleaned impurities such as carbon dioxide and moisture. Air is, then, liquefied by cryogenic cooling with the help of the latest plate and fin, high efficiency heat exchangers and expanders. Finally, it gets separated into oxygen, nitrogen and various inert gases in the air separation column.

Scope and Supply :
Air compressor
Latest compressor (screw/centrifugal type) is used for compression of air at low pressure of 5-7 bar.
Pre Cooling System
During the 2nd stage process, a refrigerant is used for pre-cooling the process air to a temperature around 12 degrees Celsius before the air goes inside the purifier.
Purification of Air by Purifier
Air is made to enter a purifier comprising of twin molecular sieve driers, each functioning alternatively. The sieve eliminates moisture and carbon dioxide from the process air before it goes inside the air separation unit.
Cryogenic Cooling of Air by Expander
Air is cooled to sub zero temperatures for liquefaction and cryogenic refrigeration. An efficient expander is used for cooling. Air is cooled to temperatures below -165 to -170.
Separation of Liquid Air into Oxygen and Nitrogen by Air Separation Column
After air is cleaned of moisture and carbon dioxide, it is entered into the low pressure plate fin type heat exchanger where it is cooled below sub zero temperatures by air expansion process in the expander. At the warm end of the heat exchangers a temperature difference delta as low as 2 degree Celsius can be generated. Once the air reaches air separation unit, it is liquefied and is separated into oxygen and nitrogen by the process of rectification.
Liquid oxygen is stored in cryogenic liquid storage tanks
Liquid oxygen from the cryogenic storage tank is compressed to high pressure in a cryogenic liquid pump. Gaseous oxygen is obtained after vaporizing liquid oxygen in an ambient air evaporator. The high pressure gas is, then, directed into cylinders or customer’s pipelines.
